Family therapy if often an essential part of recovering from addiction. When one person in the family uses, or abuses, drugs or alcohol, it impacts the entire family.
Often addiction enforces a pattern of very negative behavior that includes lying and deceiving those who are closest to us.
Part of recovery, for the individual and for those around them, is to find a way to move forward from that behavior.
In many cases, family members opt for therapy while their loved one undergoes in-patient care.
This enables them to heal in unison, but with time to focus on themselves, without the pressure of being a support unit.
