Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is often associated with war-time combat, but as well as treating veterans, Dr Hanan cares for a range of individuals.
"PTSD can occur in veterans. Active duty, and even training regimes, can be extremely stressful," says Dr Hanan.
"Domestic violence survivors, victims of crime and witnesses to accidents, can also suffer from PTSD."
Symptoms can include recurring nightmares, detachment from emotion, difficulty in relationships and feelings of hopelessness.
"Regardless of how you feel, it's important to be mindful that there is a way forward. Changing your outlook and your life is possible."
