Bereavement therapy can address loss due to the ending of a marriage, a career, relationship or death.
There is no correct way to grieve, and grief is not limited to one emotion.
In many instances working through loss can help heal the individual who is in therapy, and enable them to be part of a better support system for their loved ones.
"Too many times, I see people avoid showing their sadness in an attempt to appear strong. They think this will help them, their children or people who are relying on them. In actual fact it can be more damaging," says Dr Hanan.
